Kalynn + Connor || Summer Lake Home Wedding

8/09/20

Not to sound like a broken record here, but as with most of my 2020 weddings, Kalynn and Connor’s wedding day looked a bit different than they originally planned when we first met a year and a half ago. Their original plans included a swanky wedding at Northland Country Club to include all their friends and family. While, that didn’t happen exactly the way they intended, I’d be hard pressed to believe their wedding at the bride’s parent’s Forest Lake home wasn’t even more beautiful, memorable, and fun.

Both Kalynn and Connor are UMD graduates. She has a degree in Healthcare Management and Connor with an Exercise Science degree and both were athletes while pursuing their degree fields. They first saw each other while each was working out for their respective sports in the UMD gym. Connor ran track and Kalynn played softball for the Bulldogs. When I first met them, I heard the story of how they first met and how they came to be together. Like many young people’s stories, they swiped right and the rest is history.

The first day of their married life was hot (and HUMID), with chances of scattered rains/storms all day. What actually happened was skies alternating from bright sun to dark clouds and everything in between. Thankfully, rain held off until the very end of the evening. The couple and their amazing support group of family and friends had every possible scenario worked out just in case. The home and lake were perfect backdrops to their celebrations. To say ‘it takes a village’ is a complete understatement for this celebration. With the help and support of all (and I mean ALL) of their neighbors, they were able to pull off extra parking, an extra house for the groomsmen and guys to get ready in, and additional backyards for photos. This wedding was truly a community event and very special to see everyone work together to make Kalynn and Connor’s wedding day go off without a hitch, especially their fur-baby Winston who was on hand to witness his momma and dad say “I do”. An extra special moment was when Kalynn’s mom and dad shared a first look together. They recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary and to watch her parents share this special moment was pretty awesome.

Congrats to you both Kalynn and Connor! I know you have a couple of busy years in front of you, but I just know are going to rock it! I’m looking forward to photographing those D1 babies I heard so much about on your big day! (lol).
