Always plan for rainy skies

I don’t always mean for just the wedding day either. Even in marriage, it’s not a matter of ‘if’ it might rain, but when. But for a wedding, the old-wives tale is that if it rains, the marriage is blessed with good luck – let’s run with that!

I got to know Nicole and Patrick last fall when we shot their engagement photos here in Duluth. I’m not sure I have ever laughed so much with a couple, but when their wedding came around, the laughter continued. For some couples, when you plan your day to be outside, in one of the most beautiful parks in the Twin Cities, and the POURING rain puts a damper on those plans – some couples would let it seriously bum them out. Not these guys. They rolled with what they could not control and moved the ceremony inside. To be honest? It was perfect!

The best part, is when the rain finally let up and one of the most amazing pink-sky sunsets came through, Nicole and Patrick were ready and willing to indulge me to run outside for some last minute portraits. Man, they were really spectacular (Nicole and Patrick I mean, not just the pink sky!)
